Parent and Community Engagement Day

The Parent and Community engagement Day will be held on November 17, 2011, from 8:30 AM until12:00 PM at the Octavius V. Catto Family School located at 3100 Westfield Avenue, Camden, New Jersey. There will be workshops for Parents and the Community on "Bullying and "CyberBullying". This event is open to Parents and the Camden Community. A Continental Breakfast will be served. Camden High School Policies for 2011-2012

The following school policies MUST be adhered to during the school year:

No Electronic Equipment (cell phones, ipods and ear phones); this equipment will be confiscated if seen during the school day
No hoodies may be worn in the building
Camden High sweatshirts will be available through our school store
No hats may be worn in the building
No articles of clothing that are seen as offensive may be worn during the school day (ex: short skirts, gang or drug paraphernalia)
Students must report to school no later than 7:45am
Students must provide a note after each absence
Students must complete all classwork and homework assignments
Students must attend all classes and arrive on tine each day
Students and parents should communicate with the staff often regarding student progress

Great College Opportunity for African-American Mothers

The Sisters Thea Bowman Foundation has four scholarships for African-American single mothers and their child to attend the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. The Foundation will grant $30,000 over a period of four years to the College of St. Mary on behalf of each student. In return the College of St. Mary will match that grant with an additional $24,000. The student must be an African-American single mother who has completed high school. She must be from low income housing. She must be able to gain admission to the College of St. Mary. She need not be Catholic.

Each student will have an African-American mentor during her course of study at the College of St. Mary. Each student will also have an African-American host family from Omaha who will also serve as a mentor.

Each mother may take up to two children with her to the College of St. Mary. The cut off age for the child is nine. Each mother will live in a dorm with other single mothers and their children. The dorm has been especially renovated to accommodate mothers and their children.

Assistance Available for School Uniforms

Financial aid is available for any student who needs assistance in purchasing a school uniform. Applications can be obtained from Ms. Drummonds in the Parent's Center (Room M211). Anyone planning to apply for assistance must complete an application and submit two different forms of evidence to establish you household income. Once a form is completed, it should be returned to the Principal's office at Camden High School.

High School and College students can go to school full time and be a Member of your State National Guard Band

The Army National Guard Band in your State has openings in the following positions:
Brass
Percussion
Bass Guitar
Lead Guitar
Woodwind

The Band Unit meets one weekend a month and 14 days in the Summer.
All interested musicians between the ages of 17-35 are welcomed to audition or inquire as to what we have to offer.

Your State Army National Guard Band offers the musician a great opportunity to perform and receive salary and benefits as well.

College Tuition Assistance
Qualify for up to the amount of your State Universities tuition amount per Semester towards an undergraduate degree, also good for participating private schools . College students may also qualify for tuition assistance towards a Graduate degree as well.

Federal Tuition Assistance
Qualify for up to $4,500 in Federal Tuition additional to State Tuition.

Enlistment Bonus
The Army National Guard offers three types of enlistment bonuses.

Student Loan Repayment Program
The Army National Guard offers a Student Loan Repayment Program in the amount of $20,000.

Professional Equipment
Professional equipment is provided to all members of the National Guard from musical instruments, mechanical tools and everything else required to allow an individual to perform and complete a particular job.

Commissary and Post Exchange (PX) Privileges
All members of the National Guard are entitled to shop at any Armed forces Commissary or Post Exchange location in the World. This offers you many opportunities to save money. Each Commissary and Post Exchange offers as much as 25% savings over commercial stores on products and service available.

Travel Benefits
Members are entitled to travel, at no charge on a space-available (Space Ã¢??A) basis, on military aircraft within and between the Continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Advanced Pay Grade.
College students with 60 credits or more may enlist at advanced pay grades.

Lodging Facilities Worldwide
Take advantage of the discount rates offered at Military Lodging facilities throughout the world. Military lodging is available to all National Guard members. These accommodations include hotels and camp grounds worldwide. One example is the Shades of Green Hotel located in the center of Walt Disney. This is one of the many hotels owned by the United States Army offering discount rates fro vocational and recreational use for military personnel and there families only.

Family Member ID Cards
These ID cards are provided to family members of the National Guard. They will allow the family members, Spouses and children who meet the required age, to use certain military facilities.
